Sync Status

Sync Status helps you monitor the synchronization state of your blocks. It shows which blocks are in sync, which need attention, and helps you manage block files.

Status Sections

WPBits Block Studio keeps your block files synchronized with the database. The database is always the source of truth.

🆕 New Blocks Detected

These are block folders in the filesystem that don’t exist in the database yet.

• Files exist on disk but no database entry
• Can be imported to add to WPBits Block Studio
• Shows block name and path

🗑️ Orphaned Block Directories

These are blocks that were deleted from the database but the files still exist on disk.

• Files exist but no database record
• Can be removed to clean up
• Shows when block was last generated

📋 Active Blocks

These are blocks that are actively managed by WPBits Block Studio.

• In sync: Files match database
• Out of sync: Files were manually modified
• Missing files: Some files are missing

Managing Sync Issues

Regenerate Block

If a block is out of sync (files were manually edited):

1. Go to Sync Status
2. Find the block under Active Blocks
3. Click Regenerate

This will restore the block files from the database.

Import New Block

To add a new block discovered in the filesystem:

1. Go to Sync Status
2. Find block under New Blocks Detected
3. Click Import

Remove Orphaned Block

To clean up orphaned block directories:

1. Go to Sync Status
2. Find block under Orphaned Block Directories
3. Click Remove

This deletes the files from disk.

Auto Sync

WPBits Block Studio keeps your block files synchronized with the database. When auto-sync is active, any manual changes to block files will be overwritten on the next save.

Free Version

Auto-sync is always enabled for all blocks. There is no per-block toggle in the free version. If you need to make manual file edits, use the Export/Import workflow to move blocks between environments.

Pro Version

With WPBits Block Studio Pro, you can control auto-sync on a per-block basis:

1. Edit the block
2. Find the Enable Auto Sync toggle
3. Enable or disable as needed

This gives you flexibility to keep auto-sync on for most blocks while disabling it on blocks you edit manually.

Best Practices

1. Enable Auto Sync for blocks you don’t edit manually
2. Regenerate blocks after any manual edits
3. Clean up orphaned directories regularly
4. Import new blocks to add them to WPBits Block Studio management
